Founded over 10 years ago, the Youth At Union Wildcats basketball program has typically served as part of the Youth Link Program for drug and substance abuse prevention.
Recently under the guidance of founder Darryl Davis and under the direction of Head Coach William Glover the program has incorporated education, leadership development and community activism as goals for every player to reach.
This year, as in the past the team housed two groups, 17 and under and a 14 and under, this year the Wildcats have added an additional group- 12 and under. The teams meet and practice at least twice weekly and participate in competitive tournaments throughout the year in NYC and the tri- state area. Once on the team participants are enrolled in the existing YAU programs to ensure stability, increase contact and provide the necessary continuum of services
Using a tough love approach and setting high goals players are developed into “student athletes”.
