Thanksgiving Food Drive

Each year, Union Settlement strives to make the holidays brighter for hundreds of East Harlem families in need.

More than 47 percent of the children in our community live below the poverty level, and the need is great. The holidays, in particular, provide a stark reminder to our neighbors of how difficult it is just to “get by.” Therefore, we make a special effort to assist families during the holiday season. For Thanksgiving, we distribute care packages complete with turkeys, fresh produce and canned goods to members of our East Harlem community.

Donate to This Year’s Thanksgiving Food Drive

Our Thanksgiving Food Drive is possible thanks to the generosity of our partners and supporters.

Last year we were able to provide over 380 Thanksgiving care packages complete with turkeys, fresh produce and canned goods. Our goal this year is to feed even more families in need, and to do so we need your help. As in past years, we rely on the help of concerned neighbors, individuals, schools, churches and business partners to donate for this cause.

If you or your organization is interested in donating turkeys, produce, and/or canned goods, please contact Laura Johnson at ljohnson@unionsettlement.org.

We also accept monetary donations online and by check. This helps us purchase food we may not have enough of for our care packages.
