Two New Directors Join Union Settlement
Union Settlement appoints Susan Puder as Director of Development and Communication, and Joy Pittman as Director of Human Resources

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Union Settlement, the oldest and largest social service provider in East Harlem, today announced the selection of two new Directors. Susan Puder was appointed to the position of Director of Development and Communication, and Joy Pittman was appointed as the new Director of Human Resources.
“We are delighted to have Susan and Joy join our team,” said David Nocenti, Executive Director of Union Settlement. “They are both experienced leaders with substantial nonprofit experience, as well as a personal commitment to serving individuals in need. Their expertise and dedication will be invaluable to the East Harlem community.”

Prior to joining Union Settlement, Susan Puder worked at Sanctuary for Families, where she was the Director of Individual Giving & Special Events. She also previously served on the Sanctuary Board of Directors as a Vice President and Co-Chair of the Development Committee. Ms. Puder started her nonprofit career as the Director of Development for Gilda’s Club Westchester. Before entering the field of development, Susan worked as a litigator at a number of law firms including Davis Polk & Wardwell, and served as an Adjunct Professor at New York Law School. Susan holds a BA from New York University and a JD from New York Law School.
Joy Pittman most recently served as the Human Resources Manager for the Start Treatment and Recovery Centers, and before that was the Assistant to the Provost at Long Island Business Institute, where she managed the college’s human resources operations. She has had a distinguished career overseeing and implementing strategic human resources functions, including talent acquisition and development, and she still serves as an Adjunct Professor at Long Island Business Institute. Ms. Pittman holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the City College of New York, a Master’s Certificate in Strategic HR Management from Cornell University and certifications as a Senior Human Resource Professional (SPHR and SHRM-SCP).
